Preventing That First Wrinkle

Aging is a fact and there is nothing that we can do to stop it but it does not mean that we cannot try to slow it down or look younger than we actually are even when we are in our 20s. Find out more below:

#1 Wear sunblock

If you have already read our previous post about sunblock, then you'll probably know why this is number one on our list of wrinkle prevention tips in your 20s. This is because proteins such as collagen actually deplete when exposed to UV rays. Hence, wearing sunblock such as the Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 PA+++ or the Missha All Around Safe Block WaterProof Sun Milk SPF 50+/PA+++  will help us to look young and allow us to reap other skincare benefits such as hydration and sebum control.

#2 Remove your eye makeup gently

Your eyes are the most delicate part of your face and are the first to show signs of aging. Hence, we can prevent this by removing our eye makeup gently to preserve the elasticity in that area. Instead of rubbing your makeup remover all over your eyes, just hold whichever eye makeup remover that you are using whether its the Huxley Cleansing Water; Be Clean; Be Moist or the Heimish All Clean Balm over your eyes for about 15 seconds to let it melt all the make up away. This will prevent you from tugging your delicate eye area.

#3 Start using an eye cream even when you're in your 20's

As mentioned above, your eyes are one of first to show signs of aging, hence, its important to keep this part nourished and hydrated. Start using a light weight creamy or gel eye cream such as the Benton Fermentation Eye Cream in your 20's and start to switch to a more moisturising and active eye cream such as the Missha Geum Sul Vitalizing Eye Cream  in your 30's.

#4 Exfoliate

Exfoliate your skin regularly with a physical exfoliator such as the Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish or a chemical one such as the Neogen Dermalogy Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling to help reveal younger looking skin on the surface of your face. As explained in our previous blog post about exfoliating, an accumulation of dead skin cells can actually cause our skin to sag because it can pull or weight our skin down. Hence, we can exfoliate to prevent a build of dead skin cells and to keep our face fresh and young looking.

#5 Use antioxidants

Avoid products that focus on lifting and firming your skin when you are in your 20s because using them at such a young age will put your skin cells into overdrive and may cause breakouts especially if you have acne prone skin. Save those heavily peptide concentrated products for when you are in your 30s or 40s. Instead look for products that contain antioxidants such as vitamin C and argan oil which can be found in the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop and Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner respectively.
